Alvin Little League
Spring 2024 Player Clinics

Alvin Little League works together with the coaches in our program, as well as coaches & instructors outside of our program, to bring player clinics to Lion's Park. Our first (2) big clinics for the Spring 2024 season are on January 6th and January 13th. These clinics are specifically geared toward our pitchers and catchers to get their arms ready for the season and get them working together early.

Ready to RSVP? Please follow this link to do so: https://forms.gle/qNot4y8fBAPXNYSr7

Who can attend the pitchers & catchers player clinic on January 6th and January 13th?
The player clinics are open to the following divisions:
Senior (15/16)
Junior (13/14)
Major (11/12)
Minor (9/10)
Coach Pitch (7/8) Catchers

Is it okay if our player is new to the position?
Yes! At these clinics, players will be grouped into 3 different groups:
New Pitchers & Catchers
Experienced Pitchers & Catchers
Above Average Pitchers & Catchers

Each group is specifically designed to introduce the position, expand on the position, or continue to work on mechanics, timing, throwing, and getting your arm ready for the season.

What can be expected at these clinics?
We want players to feel confident going into the Spring 2024 season, especially some of our new players that maybe just starting out at the pitcher or catcher position.

For the new players:
The expectation is that they will attend these clinics and gain valuable insight into each position.

For new pitchers, we'll work on timing, understanding mechanics, how to find a comfortable throwing position (wind-up & stretch), and they'll have the ability to learn new grips and develop accuracy throwing in the zone. We'll begin to teach arm care and help them to understand the importance of taking care of their throwing arm / shoulder and why limiting pitch count is so important.

For new catchers, we'll work on putting gear on, taking gear off, throwing the helmet off to find the baseball, receiving pitches, commanding the field, throws down to bases, and throws back to the pitcher.

For the experienced players:
The expectation is that they will continue to build on their mechanics, while being introduced to new mechanics or polishing their already established mechanics. Our goal at these clinics for pitchers and catchers is to get pitchers pitching consistently in the zone and give catchers the opportunity to continue to work on their mechanics as well.

For the above average players: We will have a professional pitching instructor on site to work with our above average players.

Where do we meet for these clinics?
Everyone will meet at Schroeder Field. From there, we will break out into our (3) different groups. Players that are unsure of what group they should go to will be helped in finding that specific group that is going to work best for them.

It is recommended that players show up, ready to warm up, 15 to 30 minutes before the clinic begins.
